If you’re like most companies today, you have a consistent output of video content. But what about your input? Meaning, internal videos for your company. Are you tapping into that resource effectively? Today we want to discuss why you should be, and why video to support your team will benefit your brand.
Benefits of Internal Videos
Implementing video within your company structure is one of the most worthwhile investments you’ll make. To help show you why, we’ve put together just a handful of the benefits of internal videos:
Saves you time and money. While video production costs can run quite high (depending on quality), the long-term use of your video will make that investment well worth it. After all, video is one of the most “recyclable” forms of content you can create. Plus, integrating video saves you time when it comes to extra meetings, training needs, etc.
Video is accessible to all. In this remote-work world we live in, having a form of communication that is accessible to anyone at any time in anywhere is priceless. Do you have employees in different time zones and/or countries? Simple fix! Use video.
Keeps consistent messaging. As a brand, having consistency in your message is imperative. This applies not only to your audience but also to your team. And what better way to keep a consistent tone and clear mission than through video? Video helps alleviate confusion within your team, as well as maintains focused objectives across the board.
Provides accurate tracking. When it comes to training either new or seasoned employees, video is a simple way to track both viewership as well as progress for the trainee. On top of which, if ever a team member wants to refresh on old material, it will easily be available to them, without cutting into your work time.
Video Ideas for Your Brand
As with all video content, sometimes the hardest part is coming up with a creative idea. So, to help you out, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite internal video ideas for you.
Company Culture Videos. These are great not only for your team but also for anyone interested in joining it (see here for a solid example). This is an opportunity for you to capture the energy of your company, and boost morale while inspiring others to want to be a part of it. Plus, this type of video can easily be posted to your socials as well, as extra promotion for your brand.
Event Announcement Video. Hosting a party or celebration for your team? Generate excitement and buzz for it by creating a video announcement! This is a great chance to incorporate some humor, and start the fun for your company long before the party.
Training Videos. This one is probably the most obvious (and commonly used) but onboarding your team with video is one of the best opportunities for you to save on long-term budget while also setting the right tone for your company’s new team members.
Company Updates. Have updates you need passed along to your team? Want to save time but still communicate them effectively? Use video. Again, by doing so, you ensure a clear message across your company, while allowing your employees to view it conveniently within their schedule.
UGC from Your Employees. No matter the company, every employee wants to feel involved and valued. A great way to do this is by generating UGC (user-generated content) from your team! Create an employee “takeover” day on your socials, or have a contest, with the winner providing the best content. This can help with team morale, while virtually giving you free video content. A win-win, for sure.
Examples of Fantastic Internal Videos
Here’s one highlighting an “event announcement” video. Notice there’s no spoken audio, yet the message is still conveyed effectively with thoughtful keywords.
Your employees would be in charge of this next one, but it pays to know what you’re looking for when it comes to UGC content from them. This example sheds light on the company’s work environment, focusing primarily on all the perks and benefits they offer to their team.
This last one features a company update, with an end-of-year review for the team. This is a wonderful way to both inform your employees of the achievements they helped make happen, while also reliving some of the fun moments you all shared together.
There are, of course, multiple ways to use video to support your team, so we encourage you to think outside the box. As with all video creation, remember to have fun, be clear in your message, and that turning inward is always a great option.
