The Dangers of Video Overload

June 26, 2019

20 years ago, no one would have guessed how many videos were being posted daily, even hourly. Individuals now with truly click of the button video making capabilities all within their pocket. How do we cut through the crowd and noise?

Consistency Wins Every Time

“Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come.” – Dwayne Johnson

History shows that many many brands and fads have come and gone. Consistent messaging that sticks to your values and DNA will elicit respect and a faithful following.

The goal would be to have a customer base and audience that is loyal, not just one time viewers. When people think of your brand and your work, would they say it’s consistent quality?

When people encounter your branding work, do they hear the same sort of thing and get the same vibe each time? Stick to it! Long term success awaits.

Engage With the Audience

Don’t just talk at your audience. They want to interact. Ask questions, follow up with viewers. Respond to each and every comment, concern, question, and bit of praise on your social media channels. Let your audience connect. As we like to say 100 comments on a video is better than 1,000 views. It shines ENGAGEMENT.

Ask what type of video content your customer would like. Tutorials, how to videos, inside the team or brand/BTS “Behind the Scenes” videos. And then respond in action to feedback.

Maybe do a contest with prizes for your consumers who engage on a thread, review your product, etc. And announce it with a video and write up.

The big question should be, “How can we engage our customer and potential consumer?”

Research Trends and then Be the First

When was the last time you checked out your competitors media and branding? What is working out there. Are there trends at different times of years based on events, holidays, etc? This year and next be the first to address those things. Video can be the most amazing way to get your themed message out there. Research, and then BE THE FIRST.
