A Current List of the Books and Podcasts We are Loving

February 14, 2019

With 2018 well behind us now, we all are plowing ahead in vision for what’s next. Last year did hold many lessons for our team at Waves Media and we thought we’d share some of the insights and things we were (and are!) thinking about. This came in the form of podcasts, books, and conversations. Here are a few. And please share your big insights and learning with us!

Essentialism: the Disciplined Pursuit of Less

Perhaps one we felt was most foundational was the book on “Essentialism” by Greg McKeown. Inspirational and full of great insight regarding keeping to the main thing in your life, career, and focus in general. A must read, not only for business, but for creatives, parents, young adults, really anyone wanting to be effective in life.

Entrepreneurs on Fire

Looking for some virtual inspiration, business advice ideas, and hearing from people just like us? Entrepreneurs on Fire is an amazing podcast and resource featuring a myriad of content for the small business owner.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

A classic for sure and a timeless one at that. The habits of Inside-out Character, going for Win-Win, Seeking First to Understand, Synergy, and more are a needed reminder in all our lives and companies. The book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a deep read so make sure you have time and note taking ability when plunging in.

So Good They Can’t Ignore You

So Good They Can’t Ignore You is a treatise with a new take on your career path, whether you are just getting started or reflecting on what’s ahead in your life. Will make you think!

Elon Musk

Many things have been written about this unique mogul and inventor, but this is as good as any. Super enjoyable story and challenging to staying in the status quo.

How I Built This w/Guy Raz

I’m a newer listener to this but the few episodes I’ve enjoyed were inspiring and encouraging. The entrepreneurs we all admire and know of share their failures, experiences, and ideas. A great staple ‘show’ to save to your ongoing podcast/audio listening.
