We can help with this one, but it’s great if you show up to our pre-production chat with some ideas on where you’d like to film your shoot (if possible). To start, we always recommend choosing space(s) in your office with lots of light and room to work! Consider areas that don’t require lots of moving of furniture, to ease your prep time. And, if filming during working hours, a space that won’t interrupt with the general workflow of others.

A huge majority of our video shoots use actual employees and not professional actors as talent. That being said, it pays to prep them as much as possible beforehand! If you and/or your team will be involved on-camera, be sure to practice your lines so you can feel confident coming onto set. Also, how you look will definitely affect how you feel so we recommend hiring a professional for hair and make-up (if possible). For more tips on feeling confident on-camera, click here.
Your brand’s video is your calling card, so it makes sense to want to put your best foot forward. One of the best ways to do this is by cleaning the set beforehand. Mop and sweep floors, ensure windows are “smudge-free”, desks are organized, etc…you get the picture. By doing so, this enables us to get to filming that much more quickly on shoot day, ensuring the best possible video outcome for your brand.
As with most office spaces, there is a lot of activity and “life” happening throughout the day. This is to be expected but it does help to factor in the noise level of any chosen area. Maybe re-assign working employees elsewhere on shoot day to cut down on distractions. Or choose a space that’s not that busy so there’s less chance of mics picking up any outside sounds. Shooting on weekends can sometimes be a great solution, since there are less team members on site. Whichever you choose, considering this beforehand will streamline the filming day process.
This may seem obvious, but getting a good night’s rest the night before a shoot day is top of our list when it comes to solid prep. Film days tend to go long, with surprises along the way, so coming to set well-rested with a positive attitude will make for a much easier (and more fun!) day. Trust us, we are all about working hard at Waves but the first step to great work is good rest. So, aim for an earlier bedtime that night, set out outfits, prep the coffee maker, and start fresh and ready for a great shoot day.
