If you’re like most brands, you’ll already have your video marketing in place for the holidays. But if not, it’s time to get going! Why? Because, as wisely put here, you’re tapping into a market that’s ready and willing to buy. Customers want to purchase and be prepped and ready for the busy holiday–so it’s the perfect time to show them your solutions.
Not only that but it’s also a time of year where sentimentality and reflection reign supreme. Thus, it’s the perfect gateway to connecting emotionally with both your current and (hopefully) new audience via your holiday video ads.
Don’t know where to start? We’ve got some holiday inspiration below to get you going. 🙂
This first one is the perfect integration of both product placement as well as high emotional value. Chevrolet depicts a common situation that, sadly, a lot of folks have to endure; but they do it in a hopeful and endearing way. This shows the power of playing on everyday difficulties, presenting immediate tension in the beginning with a sweet resolution at the end. And all accomplished with the help of their product. Perfection.
This next one you will probably already know (or may even remember). It’s the classic 1970’s ad for Coca-Cola, celebrating diversity and inclusion through the power of music and the sharing of a Coke. Simple, right? Exactly. By keeping it so, it’s easy to remember, and retains its influence throughout the years.
Up to 90% of surveyed people said they remember an ad better when it makes them laugh. What better time to include humor then, than in your holiday video ads? Kmart does just this brilliantly, by bringing a chuckle to your lips, while also being informative at the same time.
This next one carries high-quality video production, wrapped up in a historically accurate story (for an interesting behind-the-scenes on it, click here). Through the power of video, Sainsbury’s manages to visualize this incredible anecdote beautifully while still promoting their chain. It’s heartfelt, interesting, and reminds the audience of the true meaning of the holidays.
While there are times when longer video ads make sense (as seen above), we also recommend keeping it short and sweet in your narratives whenever possible. Campbells does just this, in this vintage ad (that we at Waves definitely remember watching as kids 😉 ). In just 30 seconds, Campbells uses a holiday tradition practiced for generations to capture the magic of both the season as well as their product.
